FRONTLINE RESPONSE TO COVID-19

by Jericho Road Community Health Center

Jericho Road's health centers are part of the medical community's frontline response to the novel coronavirus. Your financial support will help us continue to treat patients throughout this crisis.

As a safety-net primary care provider, Jericho Road treats all patients, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. This means that Jericho Road is integral to the success of the COVID-19 pandemic response in Buffalo and Western New York. In normal times, Jericho Road treats patients who may have few other options in terms of medical care. Now, more than ever, Jericho Road's health services are vital.

How your gift will help
For the past 23 years, Jericho Road has provided access to healthcare for the most vulnerable, especially people living in poverty, refugees, individuals with chronic health conditions, and the uninsured. With the spread of the novel coronavirus, our medical staff is being stretched thin and using PPE (personal protective equipment) at a much higher rate than normal. Your gift will help us continue to keep our medical teams and patients safe, while ensuring we can care for our community throughout the pandemic. Your gift may also provide support for members of our medical team who may need to be quarantined as a result of exposure to the virus.

What we're doing
To reduce the transmission of COVID-19, Jericho Road has put many of its non-medical programs on hiatus. Non-essential personnel are working remotely. Our two largest health centers remain open and plan to remain open throughout the course of the pandemic. Screening procedures have been implemented at all open sites. If the screener is concerned that a patient could have COVID-19, they are taken to an isolation room for further evaluation. We are also offering telemedicine for some sick and well visits, as well as for behavioral health appointments.

Message from our founder & CEO, Dr. Myron Glick
"We named this organization Jericho Road after the parable of the Good Samaritan. The Good Samaritan helped a stranger even when his personal safety was not guaranteed. He did not ask, 'What will happen to me if I help this stranger.' Rather, he asked, 'What will happen to this stranger if I don't help?' We strive to be like the Good Samaritan on an average day. And there is no better time than now to emulate him.

"Please pray for all affected by this pandemic, including those who are ill and also the healthcare workers at Jericho Road and all across this country who are putting their lives on the line to provide care during this difficult time."

A final note
We know that this is a challenging time for everyone and economic hardship/uncertainty is spreading. This campaign is directed at people who have the ability to make a financial gift. If you are unable to give a financial gift right now, please feel no pressure. We truly understand.
